Frequently Asked Questions

Your reservation uses pre‑booked, timed entry so you bypass the public ticket line at the Palace. Guided groups have a separate entrance. As at all major sites, security screening still applies for everyone. Our guide manages formalities at the entrance so the group moves efficiently and as quickly as possible. The guards at the palace supervise the timed entry for groups.

The guided tour lasts 3 hours and includes both the palace and the gardens. For planning your day, count 4.5 hours to include the ride to  and from Versailles. Tours are small group (1–20 guests)—enough time to see the essentials without rushing.

We meet in central Paris and take the RER C suburban train together to “Versailles Château – Rive Gauche,” a short walk from the Palace. Your guide/host escorts the group round‑trip for a smooth, worry‑free journey. (If you need to meet us directly in Versailles, select the departure that states so when booking.) In some cases, we need to leave from a different train station than the one we usually use. This happens when there are works or closures on the train line, often we are informed shortly before the tour. In that case we will send you an email and/or a Whatsapp message and/or call you to make sure you go to the right place. Please make sure you are reachable and check your emails in case this happens.

We focus on the Palace’s must‑sees—the State Apartments and the Hall of Mirrors—then explore the Gardens with your guide.

Yes. Your tour includes Garden access; on Musical Gardens/Fountain Show days (seasonal), admission is covered with your booking—no extra purchase on the day.

The Musical Gardens are daily from April 1–October 31 with the addition of the Fountain Shows on scheduled days (generally weekends during this period, plus Tuesdays in May and June, but this may vary). If you’d like to catch them, choose a date that indicates the Fountain shows at checkout.

Your voucher confirms the exact meeting point in central Paris. Please arrive 15 minutes early so we can ensure we catch our train and enter at our timed slot. Allow extra time to get to the meeting point, and if you plan on taking a taxi ensure you book it in advance, they can be hard to get in the busy months.

Yes—we offer a departure from Versailles as well. If you’re considering a taxi from Paris, we generally recommend joining us in Paris for the escorted train—it’s simpler and much more economical.

Our standard format includes round‑trip transport back to Paris. You will be escorted on the way there, and can come back in your own time. If you prefer to stay longer in the Gardens and return independently later by RER C, just tell us at check‑in and we’ll advise the simple route back and give you your return train ticket. Please be aware that you cannot re-enter the Palace or the Gardens after leaving. You will need to ensure you do not exit  the Gardens at the end of the tour in order to enjoy exploring them for longer.

  • Skip‑the‑line timed Palace entry

  • Guided visit of the Palace & Gardens

  • Garden tickets (including on show days)

  • Round‑trip train transportation from Paris, escorted from Paris to Versailles by our coordinator

  • Expert, English‑speaking guide

You do not need to buy any extra tickets, everything is pre-booked and included.

The Palace is closed on Mondays. Gardens and Park hours vary by season and events. We schedule departures accordingly.

Absolutely—families love this experience. Please reserve a place for every participant, including children, so we respect group size and timed entries.

Strollers are allowed in the Gardens and Park. Inside the Palace, front‑worn soft carriers are easiest; strollers may be restricted and, when the cloakroom is operating, are typically left in the free left‑luggage before entering rooms. Policies can adjust with operational needs, so follow staff guidance on the day. Only foldable umbrellas are allowed inside the Palace.

Travel light. Large bags/suitcases are not permitted (reference size 55 × 35 × 20 cm). Smaller daypacks are subject to checks; when the left‑luggage office is operating, certain items (e.g., umbrellas, large backpacks) must be deposited before entering rooms, but note that this takes time and we have a timed entry, so it can be complicated.

Personal photos are welcome, but no flash, tripods, selfie sticks or lighting inside rooms. Please respect signage in temporary exhibitions and staff instructions.

Inside the estate you’ll find cafés and take‑away counters. You can also upgrade to lunch at Café Ore – Ducasse inside the Palace (subject to availability), a memorable way to complete your visit. Picnics are permitted in the Park (e.g., Saint‑Antoine Plain; Swiss Guard Lake) and only in a designated area in the Gardens (Marmousets hall). There are also multiple restaurants nearby in the city of Versailles, ask your guide for recommendations!

Expect a fair amount of walking over even and uneven surfaces. The Palace has lifts serving all visitor levels, and manual wheelchairs are available for indoor use (free, subject to availability). Tell us your needs when booking—we’ll advise the best pacing and routes.

Comfortable walking shoes are essential, and a light layer helps in changing weather. No food or drink inside rooms; water is fine away from artworks. Security screening is mandatory.

Tours run rain or shine. Much of the Palace is indoors, but the Gardens are outdoors—bring a compact umbrella or rain layer if showers are forecast. In poor weather your guide may opt to spend more time in the palace for your comfort.

It is very easy to get back to the city centre of Paris after your tour. We will provide you with the tickets. Your coordinator will show you how to get back to the train station, it is close and well signposted. Trains leave every 15 minutes and they all go to Paris, it’s not possible to get on the wrong train!

On certain dates, during works or closures on the train line, we have to use a different station which is a little further away. Your guide and coordinator will be able to help you, don’t hesitate to ask them.

You can change your booking up to 24 hours before your tour departure time. If you booked directly with us, use the Manage My Booking section in the footer of our website. If you booked on one of our partner platforms, please contact them to make the change.

We offer free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure. Inside 24 hours, tickets and timed entries are locked to our slot and not refundable. If you need to cancel within 24 hours we recommend that you check with your travel insurer.

Tips are not included and are entirely optional—always appreciated for great guiding.

We’d love to hear your feedback if you enjoyed your tour. We share all reviews with our guides, and they truly appreciate hearing that you had a great time — it means a lot to all of us. Your comments also help other travelers discover our tours and support our small local team.
